The Fifa 2010 World Cup Local Organising Committee this week decided to have only one event to celebrate winning the bid to host this spectacular quadrennial tournament.
Earlier, it was announced that the main celebrations will take place at Sun City in North West, with the different host cities also staging theirs.
Now the only event will take place at Sun City on May 15 where top soccer, government and community leaders are expected to attend.
It was on May 15 2004 in Zurich when Fifa president Sepp Blatter made the historic announcement that South Africa would host the 32-nation tournament.
Tim Modise, the LOC's communications and marketing director, said yesterday it was all systems go for the big gumba.
"We are going to have one big event at Sun City. People from the nine host cities and South Africans in general will also be joining us there.
"We have been having a series of meetings with representatives from North West to prepare for the celebrations."
Modise announced that they had formed a partnership with the national Department of Education to celebrate the event.
"We will call a media briefing in the next few days to formally announce a partnership with the department, focusing on getting schoolchildren involved.
"It will be a high-profile event," said Modise, adding that North West Premier Edna Molewa would deliver the keynote address.
Sport and Recreation Minister Makhenkesi Stofile is also expected to attend, which will also be shown live on SABC 2 from 6am.
Modise also announced that SABC Sport were also coming on board to help them create awareness of the World Cup.
"SABC Sport are going to help us promote the 2010 Fifa World Cup on television and radio. It's a very great partnership."
Kennedy Mosiapoa, the North West 2010 World Cup provincial government coordinator, said: "We are looking forward to a great celebration party. On the day, there will also be coaching clinics by the World Cup ambassadors such as Phil Masinga and Mark Fish for some selected 100 youngsters in the province.
"We have asked Safa and the North West department of sports and recreation to facilitate the process. There will also be a game featuring the ambassadors and locals."
In the evening, there will be a gala dinner where various people will be honoured by the LOC.
