Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Gordon Igesund's coaching expertise will come to the test as he leads Thanda Royal Zulu for the first time when the relegation-threatened side host Santos on Sunday.

The match will be played in Hammersdale.

Igesund was roped in by the club's management as a technical adviser to coach Roger Palmgren and his assistant, Johan Eriksson, who have battled to produce good results since the start of the second round. He will be with the team until the end of the season.

Team manager Thabani Gumede confirmed that Igesund would be on the bench on Sunday as both Palmgren and Eriksson will be serving suspensions they received during the Black Leopards clash, a match they lost 2-3 in Limpopo last Wednesday.

"Igesund and I will be sitting on the bench for our next match. Actually he will be in charge of the team until the end of the season.

"He started conducting training sessions yesterday alongside Palmgren and Eriksson in our special training camp in Mpangeni.

"We decided to take the players out of Durban because we want them to concentrate. The last three games are very crucial for us to win," said Gumede.

Club spokesman Thulani Mbhele said they needed all the support they could get and have decided to reduce the entry fee.
