Irvin Khoza, chairman of the 2010 World Cup Local Organising Committee, will lead the South African delegation to the 58th congress of Fifa in Australia on May 29 and 30.

Irvin Khoza, chairman of the 2010 World Cup Local Organising Committee, will lead the South African delegation to the 58th congress of Fifa in Australia on May 29 and 30.

The congress, which is expected to be attended by representatives from more than 204 Fifa member countries, will take place in Sydney.

Also expected to attend the big gathering will be Danny Jordaan, the LOC's chief executive officer, and several board members.

Molefi Oliphant, South African Football Association president, will lead a delegation of the federation that will also include CEO Raymond Hack.

Tim Modise, the LOC's communications and marketing director, said they will also use the congress to update the world's soccer family on progress on the 2010 World Cup preparations.

"It is a big gathering of the world's soccer family, we will also be represented as the LOC as it affords us a great opportunity to update them on the preparations," Modise said.

He said the LOC would send representatives to the Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland in June on a learning curve.

As they did with the Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana in January, the LOC will also send some of the top soccer administrators, who will be used as coordinators in 2010, to expose them to such a tournament.

The LOC top brass, including Khoza and Jordaan, will also attend this tournament where the European champions will be crowned.

As by the tradition, the winning country will qualify for the 2009 Confederations Cup scheduled for South Africa in June.

Europe and Oceania are the only two countries still to determine their representatives. Oceania will also decide their winners in New Zealand in June.

During the Confederations Cup, Africa will be represented by Bafana Bafana as the hosts and the Pharaohs of Egypt as reigning MTN Africa Cup of Nations kings. South America will be represented by Brazil, United States (North America), Iraq (Asia) and Italy (World Cup champions).
