We must protect 'our dictators'

It is very painful to see many of our people spitting venom at President Thabo Mbeki for his quiet diplomacy.

Mbeki is not the president of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). The SADC is a group of regional countries that meet to discuss economic and political relations.

If as a member country South Africa's foreign affairs policy for Zimbabwe is quiet diplomacy, what are the foreign policies of Zambia, Angola, Namibia, Botswana and Malawi for Zimbabwe?

What is the hullabaloo about Mbeki refusing to break the silence?

He refuses to act according to the whims of those who invade countries today and tomorrow tell other nations how they should conduct elections.

He refuses to see the Zimbabwean issue through the eyes of erstwhile colonial masters, who have an agenda against Zimbabwe's land redistribution. He has been meeting both Mugabe and MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai.

If Mugabe is a dictator we made him one. There is a difference between dictators made by the former colonialists and those made by the people.

People asked for land and he gave it to them, so he is our dictator and our dictators must be protected by the people.
