Siphokazi January had a busy day yesterday, frantically trying to get her cousins out of jail.

January, once a continuity announcer on SABC1, was in Matigulu, northern KwaZuluNatal, when Sowetan called her for comment on a different story.

Sister paper Sunday World wrote that her former boyfriend. Bonginkosi Dlamini, aka Zola, had snubbed her when she wanted to interview him for a television programme.

"Police are refusing to let them go," January said.

"They say they (the cousins) will be given a chance in court to apply for bail, but we are still trying."

The police said two men had been arrested on Friday on charges of rape and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and would appear in court today.

But January later said she had secured their release.
