A man who allegedly hacked his wife with a garden spade and finished her off with a screwdriver at the weekend, appeared briefly in the Middelburg magistrate's court yesterday.
Lucky Peter Fenyane, 58, of Mhluzi township, who allegedly murdered Maria Fenyane on Saturday, was refused bail. His case was postponed until Tuesday for further investigation.
The couple was allegedly involved in a quarrel at their home when the husband allegedly grabbed a garden spade and hacked at his wife according to Nadia Ninzatti, spokesman for Mhluzi police.
In another incident, a 26-year-old Middelburg man, who allegedly pushed his wife from a moving vehicle at the weekend, was arrested at the scene and later released on R3000 bail.
