I was surprised by the range of topics that authors Richman and Schreiber covered.

I am not one to note things I find irritating and list them in alphabetical order, so it was quite a shock to learn of the depths to which these men's whingeing descends.

The authors complain about everything from affirmative action, cisterns, Home Affairs, the Vodacom meerkat to ANC president Jacob Zuma.

Because of the range of topics the book covers, it is brash and may be offensive to some.

A male friend who has also read the book lapped it up in a day and found it hilarious.

But I understand Richman and Schreiber's frustration at South Africans' hackneyed use of the word "sorry", when most of the time they actually mean "excuse me", which, according to the authors is said "when you're about to pick a fight".

There was little I could relate to in the book as I have little interest in rugby, football and sport talk-shows. Some of the humour was therefore lost on me.
