The MDC general secretary has expressed his organisation's appreciation for the role the ANC is playing in a trying to find a solution to Zimbabwe's political impasse.
Tendai Biti and the MDC's South African spokesman Nqobizitha Mlilo expressed their appreciation to the ANC's Gwede Mantashe at Luthuli House yesterday.
Biti is in the country to lobby the ANC, Cosatu and the SACP to support the MDC's efforts to have Zimbabwe's delayed presidential election results announced.
He has already met Cosatu's Zwelinzima Vavi and SACP chief Blade Nzimande.
Cosatu apparently intends organising protests against Zimbabwe's delayed presidential results.
Biti and Mlilo briefed Mantashe on the electoral crisis facing their country and what the MDC has described as a "de facto and de jure" coup. Vavi has already described the Mugabe government as "illegitimate".
"We also briefed the ANC on the escalating violence unleashed by the regime on defenceless and unarmed civilians," Biti said.
He said they remained optimistic that the ANC's involvement would help end the crisis in Zimbabwe.
