Free State Stars are out for a comprehensive win against unpredictable AmaZulu at Goble Park tomorrow to enhance their chances of getting a R1million prize.
This comes as the Absa Premiership season nears its end, with clubs now chasing maximum points for various reasons.
After banking giant Absa came on board as sponsors of the league, clubs finishing inside the top eight bracket will get a guaranteed R1 million.
The club finishing ninth takes home R750 000. The R1 million serves as a great motivation now that the popular Top 8 knockout competition is no more.
The prize money also makes for more exciting soccer as the clubs already in the top eight are fighting hard to remain there.
Those lying between positions nine and 12 are desperate to also becoming millionaires by winning their remaining league games.
Ea Lla Koto, who until early last month were serious contenders for the championship title, are ninth on the table with 36 points from 25 games. AmaZulu, who have been blowing hot and cold, are 12th on 31 points from the same number of matches.
"It's crunch time, we also want to finish in the top eight bracket and also do well in the Nedbank Cup," said Rantsi Mokoena, Stars' brand manager.
"AmaZulu have been doing well in Ke Yona, so we cannot afford to underestimate them. We are going all out for a win."
Philani Mabaso, Usuthu's publicist, was equally confident of a win in Free State, their second trip inland after bundling Black Leopards out of Ke Yona last weekend.
