Nort West MEC for community safety and transport Phenye Vilakazi has taken Minister Susan Shabangu's "shoot to kill the bastards" order seriously - and ordered police to shoot two escapees on sight.

Phillip Moremi, 29, and Andrew Modikela, 41, are wanted by the police for the alleged murder of an elderly couple on Trekdrift farm near Zeerust.

It is alleged that the two managed to escape from the Ottoshoop police holding cells last Sunday, apparently during load shedding.

Police say the men shot Katrena Deysel, 56, and then slit her 60-year-old husband All's throat during a robbery.

It is alleged that the suspects stole four firearms, a cellphone and a bakkie belonging to the deceased couple before fleeing.

Moremi is wanted for the alleged rape and torture of a woman with a steam iron last month. Police have warned members of the public not to try to apprehend the suspects.
