The assault and kidnapping trial of Simon "Dede" Setlaba, a former Ithuteng Trust pupil, has been set for May in the Protea magistrate's court.

Setlaba, 22, was arrested after Ithuteng director Jackey Maarohanye, Ronnie "Papa Action" Nyakale and Mpho Makhate were convicted by magistrate David Mhango for kidnapping and assaulting former Ithuteng student Simphiwe Ncoguthu.

Maarohanye was fined R8000 or four years in prison, while Nyakale and Makhate were each fined R10000 or six years in prison.

During the trial, Ncoguthu mentioned Setlaba as one of the people who kidnapped and assaulted him in February 2006. - Getrude Makhafola
