Alleged hitman Nkosinathi Langa failed to appear in the Protea magistrate's court yesterday as scheduled, and there was no clear explanation why police did not bring him to court.
The case was postponed unti today when a date for his bail application will be set. Langa is appearing in connection with two murders.
On Monday he appeared briefly in the Johannesburg magistrate's court charged with a separate count of attempting to murder two security guards.
Langa, 24, of Dube Hostel in Soweto, is being charged with Bafana Dubazane of Alexandra and another suspect who is still at large. Dubazane, 27, did not appear in court because he is still in hospital after he was shot before his arrest.
Police are still looking for the third man.
Magistrate Albert Roux postponed the attempted murder case to May 26.
