A new development soccer tournament, where the winners will take home R10 000, is scheduled for Virginia, Free State, from April 26 to 28.

The Harmony Bonanza Soccer Festival is aimed at developing the sport in Virginia, with the hope of attracting top talent scouts.

"It is part of our 2010 World Cup legacy projects and we are very excited about it," said Maleshoane Thibile, Harmony Football Association publicist.

"We expect a total of 16 clubs throughout the Free State to take part in the tournament. The plan is to organise it yearly.

"Everybody is working hard to make it one of the biggest Free State development tournaments where an array of exciting youngsters will be on display.

"It will also help our Premiership clubs such as Free State Stars and Bloemfontein Celtic to scout for new talent, without having to travel long distances."

Virginia has produced greats such as former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper John Tlale, Hareaipha "Simba" Marumo, Tumelo Nhlapo and Woelf Keamogetse.

Besides the R10000 first prize, the winners will also get a floating trophy and 25 gold medals.
