SuperSport United appear to be favourites to clinch their first-ever league title this term, but their title credentials will be tested by their recharged neighbours Mamelodi Sundowns in Atteridgeville tomorrow night.

The two rivals meet at Super Stadium in a Tshwane Absa Premiership derby that has all the hallmarks of a thriller. Kickoff is at 7.30pm.

After experiencing some indifferent results early in the season as head coach Gavin Hunt pictured was trying to settle in, Matsatsantsa a Pitori regrouped as the season progressed and collected crucial points that fired them onto the summit of the log.

There is no doubt that United can pocket the R10 million that goes with wearing the much sought after crown this term.

Their case has been made stronger as their closest competitors to the throne, Ajax Cape Town, seem to be feeling the pressure that goes with challenging for the league title.

David "Mazolman" Skosana, United's spokesman, told Sowetan yesterday they were determined to win their remaining five matches because they had not won the championship battle.

"Ajax and Santos are still in with a chance and we can't afford to be complacent," Skosana said.

United are left with tricky opponents in their remaining matches as they still have to play Moroka Swallows and Lamontville Golden Arrows at home and Bloemfontein Celtic and Santos on the road.

Ajax's championship ability will also come under a sever test when they host Orlando Pirates at Athlone Stadium in the Mother City on Wednesday. Kickoff is also at 7.30pm.

Ajax welcome Mkhanyiseli Siwahla from suspension.
