The families of two men accused of kidnapping a shop assistant in Ncotshane, Pongola, northern Zululand, have been forced to flee their homes for their own safety.
Imran Desai and Mohammed Shaik's families were on Friday escorted out of the area by police, because residents were baying for their blood.
The families had been under threat since the discovery of the body of Skhumbuzo Mbokazi, who used to work in a shop belonging to one of them.
Police had to escort the families out of the area just hours before the suspects made their first court appearance on Friday morning.
