Jealous DA must lay off Shabangu

The DA is doing a good job on Zimbabwe, the Scorpions and Eskom, but Diane Kohler Barnard was out of line when she called for Deputy Minister of Safety and Security Susan Shabangu to be fired.

The DA is doing a good job on Zimbabwe, the Scorpions and Eskom, but Diane Kohler Barnard was out of line when she called for Deputy Minister of Safety and Security Susan Shabangu to be fired.

Surely the party knows that 100percent of law abiding citizens are absolutely sick of crime.

Shabangu's words were music to most people's ears because at last an ANC minister is taking responsibility and talking tough on crime.

Even many people who were opposed to Jacob Zuma are now rooting for him to be the next president because he supported Shabangu.

Most people, except apparently the DA, remember the Jeppestown massacre.

Shabangu did not literally mean that police should shoot anybody, but if a criminal brandishes a gun, of course, he must be shot dead.

A wounded criminal is still dangerous and firing warning shots when a suspect is escaping could well mean that he will kill again. In fact, warning shots could endanger the lives of innocent people.

The DA has no alternative to crime yet pounces on Shabangu. Surely there are times when it should praise ministers such as Shabangu.

We detect a little jealousy here.

The majority think Shabangu is on the right track.
