An avowed servant of God

Ntsoaki Evelyn Moloi was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was devoted to God and was a role model to her community.

Moloi, 77, died at her home in Ntabazwe township near Harrismith, Free State, on Monday. She was born in QwaQwa but later moved to Harrismith when she married the late Setumo Moloi.

When her husband died in 1965, leaving her to raise nine children all by herself at the age of 35, she used her domestic worker's salary to put all her children through school.

Her son, Charles Moloi, a senior interpreter at the Johannesburg high court, said: "She was an amazing woman.

"When my father died she had to take over the maintenance, yet her hard work produced advocates and teachers.

"She dedicated herself to our well-being and education.

"My mother will be missed. Everything about her was just so good.

"Most of all, she was very religious and devoted to God."

Moloi was also a member of the Mother's Union in the Uniting Reformed Church.

She will be buried tomorrow in Harrismith.
