Jabu Moleketi, the deputy minister of finance, has been appointed convenor of the insurance committee for the 2010 World Cup.

Jabu Moleketi, the deputy minister of finance, has been appointed convenor of the insurance committee for the 2010 World Cup.

Danny Jordaan, the Local Organising Committee's chief executive, said the Moleketi-led structure will deal with all insurance issues pertaining to the tournament.

"The committee will determine the type of insurance required for the tournament and and also deal with the costs," Jordaan said.

"It has already laid the groundwork for the process of securing insurance. We are going to look for a reputable insurer of international standing.

"The deadline for the committee to secure insurance for the tournament is December 2008 but I think we will complete the process long before that time."
