The newly launched Confederation of African Football's Champions Cup couldn't have come at a better time for the development of the continent's home-based players.

The experience and exposure they stand to gain from the games played will go a long way in launching a number of international careers for those African players with ambition.

At the moment that exposure is provided by the African Soccer Television show that's screened on SABC1 Sport's Laduma programme on Sundays after the local featured match.

This week ASTV highlights the Swazi Bank Cup semifinal games that saw Royal Leopards and Malanti Chiefs go on to contest for the prestigious trophy in the final.

The final match was played at the Somhlolo National Stadium.

The tournament is in its fifth year with Chiefs having been to two consecutive finals in 2005 and 2006. However, they had never won the tournament until their 2-1 victory over Leopards.

Leopards, on the other hand, were the defending champions after they beat Manzini Sundowns 1-0 in last year's final.

In the Kenyan league Tusker found themselves on the receiving end of a 4-1 routing at the hands of Mathare United.

CAF Champions League highlights include Interclube's 1-0 victory over Sporting Praia, Mamelodi Sundowns edging Starlight by the same margin and Al Ittihad's 2-1 thriller against Primeiro Agosto.

In the Premier Soccer League it's AmaZulu's 2-0 disturbance of SuperSport United that makes the highlights.

With the CAF Champions Cup coming up more African heroes will be discovered through exposure on television.
