A Soweto policeman who was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping a woman was given a R6000 bail in the Protea magistrates' court yesterday.
Isaac Mafunzwane, 38, of Protea Glen, is facing three counts of rape and kidnapping after he allegedly gave a lift to a 34-year-old woman and took her to his house.
He allegedly repeatedly raped her and only released her the next morning. When she was "kidnapped" on March 31 the woman had just been released from Diepkloof police station after being charged with assault. Mafunzwane failed to pay the bail and his case was postponed to May 5 for trial. - Penwell Dlamini
