An Umlazi township teenager has fled his home after stabbing a man to death for allegedly raping his nine-year-old sister.
The rape allegedly happened in the township's G-section informal settlement on Friday night.
The girl is said to have told her family who had raped her earlier that day.
The girl's 16-year-old brother went hunting for the man and found him at a nearby tuck shop.
The teenager allegedly drew out a knife and stabbed the man many times in the body.
Police spokesman Khephu Ndlovu yesterday said the police went looking for him at his home but he was nowhere to be found.
"We have advised the boy's mother to bring him to the police station if he comes home," Ndlovu said.
"We are searching for him and expect to make an arrest soon."
A murder case been opened.
lIn a separate incident a KwaZulu-Natal teenager is receiving trauma counselling after she was gang-raped by four robbers.
The rape happened in a forest in northern KwaMbonambi on Thursday night.
The girl was found traumatised in the forest the following morning after being raped repeatedly.
The girl, who cannot be named to protect her identity, was snatched from her home by the men at about 9pm.
They allegedly knew the girl's family very well and are suspected to be from the area.
The robbers, armed with firearms, stormed the girl's home just after the girl's father had chained up his Toyota Hilux's to prevent it from being stolen.
Police spokesman Jabulani Mdletshe said the robbers, without even trying to move the vehicle, stormed the house at gunpoint and demanded that the girl's father hand them the keys of the vehicle.
"When he gave them the keys to unlock the chain and that of the car, the other two robbers began packing a television and DVD player," Mdletshe said.
They also demanded cellphones and other valuables from the house."
Mdletshe said after packing everything they wanted from the house into the car, they took the man's 15-year-old daughter with them as hostage.
"A search for the robbers and the girl was immediately conducted," Mdletshe said.
"The girl was found a few hours later in a forest in the area.
"A manhunt for the robbers has been launched and we are determined to bring them to book soon."
A case of housebreaking, theft and rape has been opened.
