One of Bloemfontein Celtic's senior players, Gary Goldstone, has accused their coach Khabo Zondo of failing to do his job at the team.
Goldstone said the team's current dismal performances were a direct result of Zondo's inability to work with the players. He said most of the players were unhappy but were afraid to say anything.
Zondo rejoined Phunya Selesele after he was dismissed by management following a string of poor results, but solid Siwelele Samasokolara (supporters) put their foot down and demanded that he be reinstated.
Zondo was eventually brought back within a week.
But the poor results seemed to have followed the former Bafana Bafana assistant coach all the way, having lost 0-2 to Platinum Stars, 0-1 to Santos (both at home) and a 2-3 away defeat by First Divison side Ikapa Sporting.
After their 3-0 embarrassing loss to Lamontville Golden Arrows on Saturday, a visibly upset Goldstone put the blame squarely on the shoulders of his coach. He claimed Zondo had told them during one of the training sessions last week that he "cannot prepare for a team like Arrows".
"How on earth can a coach say that, knowing exactly that we will be playing against a team that has the most talented midfielders [Papi Zothwane and Kagiso Dikgacoi] in the country.
"This shows how arrogant he is. Zondo clearly does not understand that football is a practical game, where you prepare every day, but there he comes and tells the players that he he cannot prepare for Arrows.
"I am prepared to face the music by talking, but I am not going to keep quiet. It is my job and responsibility to talk for the players, who unfortunately are scared to talk.
"Things are very bad at the team. Coaches such as Mushin Ertugral are disciplined, but Zondo is a completely different coach altogether. He does not care.
"In the PSL, teams fire coaches for poor results, but at Celtic, supporters reinstate the coach for poor results, what do you call that?" asked Goldstone.
Zondo said yesterday: "How can I say such a thing. No coach in the world can say such things."
Pressed, Zondo added: "I don't think I need to comment on whether it's true or not. It's about time management decided on whether this is right for players to talk about such things."
Zondo is also of the view that Celtic need to be united in finding solutions regarding the team's sudden loss of form and find a remedy.
