Church ministers and ordinary people must not be deluded into believing that those with whom they surround themselves share their vision, Apostle Edward Phillips, head of the Heart of Worship Fellowship Centre Church in Vosloorus, Boksburg, said yesterday.
"As Christians we must guard against taking it for granted that those we have a fellowship with will automatically share our vision."
Reading from Ruth, Chapter 1: 1-22, Phillips told how Naomi, her husband Elimelek and two sons, Mahlon and Kilion, had moved from Bethlehem in Judah to Moab to avoid the famine.
"After the death of her husband and two sons Naomi was left with her two daughters-in-law, Orpha and Ruth. When Naomi heard that the Lord had come to the aid of His people in Bethlehem, she and her daughters-in-law prepared to go there. But on the road Naomi pleaded with them not to leave Moab.
"Ruth stayed with Naomi. When the chips are down people will forsake you. You don't need an Orpha."
