Budweiser are entering the South African market in the build-up to the 2010 World Cup by sponsoring a new development soccer tournament.
Brewed in America, it is the official beer of the World Cup. They have similar deals with the English Premiership's Manchester United and the Major Soccer League.
Known as the Bud Cup, the tournament features a total of 12 selected teams from various parts of the country with the overall winners playing in the global final in England.
It started in Cape Town last weekend and will continue at the Old Parktonian Sport Club in Johannesburg on Sunday, where the South African champions will be crowned.
Participating clubs are Uniao 1, Pimo Supremo, both from Pretoria, Sophiatown United of Johannesburg and Cape Town's Wannabees.
Rika Vollgraaff, media liaison officer of the tournament, told Sowetan yesterday that the winners would take part in the Budweiser Cup at Old Trafford on May 5.
Teams from Europe and Paraguay will also take part at the home of English Premiership log leaders Manchester United.
In England, the teams will have access to the Red Devils' training facilities, tour Old Trafford and meet Manchester United's legends. In addition, they will also get a chance to see the Red Devils in action. The matches will be shown on SuperSport.
