Speaking up for consumers

He made a name for himself as one of the earliest presenters of the variety show Selimathunzi - and now he's back.

Dosto Noge, pictured, hosts SABC2's consumer rights show, Speak-Out, which starts this Thursday at 6pm.

The show is relevant because it educates consumers about their rights.

The show intends being the champion of consumers and to deliver a wake-up call to retailers and service providers.

SABC2 marketing manager Mathe Mosito says: "In this consumer show, current affairs and reality TV will be combined to result in learning outcomes that will empower viewers without becoming too preachy.

"It will challenge retailers and service providers on behalf of the man in the street and investigate civic issues, such as laod-shedding for example, that currently affect all of us, Mosito says.

"The ordinary person needs a champion not just to fight for him, but also to aid him when he seeks redress and education," he says.

As the nation's channel we are glad to be the driving force behind this informative consumer programme."

It is expected that strong investigative research will enable the team to expose bad service and teach consumers how to handle such situations.

One of the features of the show is Hero and Zero of the Week.

In this section the team looks at service providers who go out of their way to provide exceptional service and complaints that have been resolved in a way that is above consumers expectations.
