Bafana Bafana delivered on their promise of a comprehensive win over Paraguay in a friendly at Super Stadium in Atteridgeville last night.

They deservedly won 3-0, making history by beating a South American opposition for the first time after 10 games.

It was a great display of soccer by Bafana Bafana who, for a change, were also shooting from outside the 18 yeard area something which clearly impressed the vociferous supporters who were singing, ululating and blowing vuvuzelas every time the hosts were in possession of the ball.

The 2010 World Cup hosts launched most of their attacks from the flanks where Tsepo Masilela and Bryce Moon operated on the left and right, respectively. South Africa showed their eagerness to win when Masilela tested goalkeeper Justo Villar with a curling cross from the left flank 45 seconds after kick off.

Three minutes later, star midfielder Teko Modise fired a rocket-like shot which hit the crossbar. It was fisted by goalkeeper Villa for a corner kick.

Unmarked Benni McCarthy missed a sitter when he ballooned the ball over the crossbar with only Villar to beat after a cross from Moon in the 14th minute.

South African goalie Itumeleng Khune, who had a great match, superbly fisted a thunderous shot from Nelson Haedo for a corner kick. Bafana finally broke the deadlock in the 30th minute when Surprise Moriri chest-trapped a cross from Masilela before easily slotting t his second goal for SA.

South Africa went 2-0 up in the 47th minute when McCarthy grabbed his 30th goal to become the all time Bafana top goal scorer, beating Bartlett who has 29 goals. McCarthy got his 70th cap and was replaced by Thembinkosi Fanteni in the 75th minute.

Simphiwe Tshabalala got the third goal, his first for Bafana in the 63rd minute,

Captain Aaron Mokoena equalled the most appearances record held by Bartlett of 74 caps.

@ In Abuja, Nigeria beat South African Under-23s 3-0 last night to qualify for the Beijing Olympics.
