York Timber's acquisition of Global Forest Products saw its revenue more than double and its operating profit jump over six fold despite the worst forest fires in South Africa's history.

Without the acquisition of GFP in July, York's revenue would have grown 23percent in the year to December 31.

The sawmiller now sources 65percent of its raw material from itself, reducing its dependence on state-owned Komatieland Forestry. - Robert Laing
