More than 100 residents of Boiketlong informal settlement outside Sebokeng, Vaal Triangle, staged a peaceful march in the township yesterday.
They danced and chanted slogans on their way to hand over a list of their grievances at the Sebokeng police station.
They said they were angry about the way the police, especially volunteers, had been treating them. They also demanded better living conditions.
One of the organisers, Patrick Sindane, accused the police of robbing residents of money and cellphones during routine patrols.
The residents gave the police and the municipality seven days to respond. - Ntwaagae Seleka
