Gauteng will continue to shiver in the rain until late this week.

Although temperatures dropped to a wintry 11 degrees C yesterday, they will rise slowly today and tomorrow.

"On Wednesday [tomorrow], Gauteng will still be partly cloudy with a 60percent chance of showers, but by Thursday the chances of rain will be halved," said climatologist Puseletso Mofokeng at the South African Weather Service in Pretoria.

He said that patches of fog will blight the highveld and escarpment in Mpumalanga, but the area stood just a 30percent chance of showers.

Meanwhile, the Department of Water and Forestry said dams were 86percent full.

"Because of recent rains, Roodeplaat in Gauteng and Hartbeespoort Dam in North West are 100percent full," said Mbangiseni Nepfumbada, chief director of information.
