Police spokesman Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said the incident occurred at Isiziba Section in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni, on Sunday at about 2pm.
"He is said to have had an argument with his wife, who managed to run away before the shooting.
"He shot the toddler in the head before turning the gun on himself. They were both certified dead on the scene."
