The yearly club championships scheduled for the Soweto Country Club in Pimville promises to be filled with exciting golf from tomorrow until Sunday.
The event will feature young and old players who will be fighting for top honours.
Tournament organiser Peter Mohlahlane said all players affiliated to the Soweto Country Club will be taking part. This is a major tournament in the club's history.
He said, with the large following the tournament has attracted, they have divided the field into the A, B and C divisions and there are also players from the development programme who will be playing.
"I'm delighted that golf is now making inroads in the previously disadvantaged communities and youngsters are beginning to enjoy the game," said Mohlahlane.
"We're also appealing to women golfers to come on board and play because we would like to increase our membership year in and year out."
Last year's winner was Netudzi Mswali, who is likely to be under severe pressure from players such as Victor Mgqibisa, Martin Pinto, Meshack Saku and Paul Ramela.
Green fee is R150 a player for two days and that includes dinner at the prize-giving on Sunday. Tee-off is at 7am. For more information contact Peter Mohlahlane at 083-474-2893.
