A dedicated Westonaria chief traffic officer, Michael Moeketsi Mfolo 48, died at his home in Westonaria on Monday after a long illness.
Born in Rustenburg on September 22 1960, Mfolo completed his matric at Phahama High School in Mohlakeng in 1980.
Spokesman for the family Zwelakhe Mathambo says Mfolo was "everyone's friend and a father-figure to many. He seldom complained of any challenges in life".
Mfolo joined the Krugersdorp traffic department In 1991. After completing his training, he worked as a full-time traffic officer in Rustenburg, in North West.
He married the late Dolly Ndlovu, with whom he had two sons, Lesego and Thato.
He then moved on to Westonaria, where he was later promoted to chief traffic officer.
He later married the late Mantsho Mfolo, and the couple was blessed with two children, Onkabetswe and Manyana.
Mfolo will be buried tomorrow at the local cemetery. The service starts at 8am at the Civic Hall in Westonaria.
