The South African Students Congress (Sasco) says Education Minister Naledi Pandor should resign because she has not transformed tertiary institutions.

SascopresidentDavidMaimela said yesterday: "She has not provided sufficient political oversight in higher education."

He said Pandor was paying more attention to the "exclusive and less representative presidential working group on higher education in the presidency than to broad mass democratic formations representing mass students and workers in the sector".

He said Pandor did not understand the challenges of higher education.

"Whiteinstitutionsare untou- chables and have failed to transform to reflect the reality of the new South Africa. Systematic racism and exclusion continues unabated, traditional initiation practices continue and students continue to be affected by unfair language policies."

Maimela led students from various institutions in a march in Tshwane yesterday to hand a memorandum to Pandor.
