The Gauteng housing portfolio committee will release a full report on its findings in the next two weeks after a recent tour of Soweto.

Godfrey Tsotetsi said the oversight visit to Pennyville, Doornkop, and Orlando East had been identified by the committee this year as areas for visitation to check on progress in the implementation of provincial and national government programmes for housing, and budget expenditure.

"We will have to go through the feedback and observations from committee members, and the report will include the allegations of corruption in Doornkop, where people are said to have paid a total of R2700 for give-away RDP houses meant for the poor," Tsotetsi said.

He added that the March 27 committee report will include recommendations for the provincial housing department to fix the problems, and it would include a deadline for completion.

Tsotetsi said the areas visited had been identified as neglected township upgrade areas that needed an acceleration of the removal of informal housing by 2014, including the removal of back-yard shacks.

He said the Doornkop Block4 reports of misconduct had been handed to the anti-fraud unit.
