Jimmy Ngobeni, Limpopo School Sports (LSS) spokesman, reckons they have assembled a team that will make the province proud at the national athletics events this year.

Ngobeni was speaking to Sowetan after the two-day provincial championships at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane at the weekend.

The primary schools' national event will take place in Cape Town on dates still to be confirmed next month.

The secondary schools' championships are billed for Rustenburg, North West, from March 26 to 28.

To display a high level of the standard and competition, the tables turned around from top to bottom on the district performances in the Limpopo event.

Waterberg were made to bite the dust for the second time in a row by Capricorn after the latter pocketed 64 medals that include 26 gold.

Waterberg, who finished second, won 53 medals with 24 gold while Mopani came third with 50 medals of which 11 were gold.

Sekhukhune rose to the occasion to topple Vhembe from the fourth spot with 22 medals that include 11 gold. Vhembe got five gold medals from the overall 15 they won. - Sowetan
