A Vereeniging circuit court judge yesterday threatened to take steps against an advocate who has repeatedly failed to represent the widow of a mining executive and her friend accused of his murder.

Judge Kathy Satchwell said she would report Danie Koen to the Law Society of South Africa.

Satchwell said that Koen claimed to represent Tinky Sophie Mojapelo, 38, and Antoinette Masuku, 36, but had failed on four consecutive days to arrive at court. She warned Mojapelo and Masuku that they risked standing trial without counsel.

Mojapelo, Masuku and alleged hitman Orlando Mandoza, 32, are accused of murdering Albert Mojapelo, 47, a day before he was to receive a retirement package of more than R1million in 2005.
