Pressure is gradually mounting on Jomo Cosmos to start winning their games or face the chop to the First Division next season.

Ezenkosi are back in action today, coming up against Free State Stars in an Absa Premiership match at Orkney Stadium.

Kickoff is at 3.30pm.

It will be the third official clash featuring the sides this season after the high-riding Ea Lla Koto notched up two victories.

Stars beat Cosmos 1-0 in the league at Goble Park in Bethlehem last September and went on to win 2-0 the following weekend in the Telkom Knockout Cup.

Collin "Blackstone" Tlemo, Cosmos' assistant coach, said they were aware that their position was unsafe but it was a matter of time before they moved up the ladder.

Cosmos are lying second from of the table with 16 points from 20 games, while the title-chasing Stars are third with 34 points from the same number of games.

"We are playing well but the problem is that goals are eluding us. We are trying different combinations but I'm confident we will soon turn the corner," said Tlemo.

"Everybody in the team has redoubled their efforts, working hard to see to it that we end the season in a respectable position on the log."

Kootso Mokoena, team manager at Stars, said: "The fact that we beat Cosmos twice before the festive season break is now water under the bridge.

"It is tough playing against clubs at the bottom of the log, but our players can also see it for themselves that Stars have every chance to win the league.

Besides the injured Geoffrey Massa, Cosmos have Bamuza Sono, Tshepo Moloto and Dikgang Mabalane to end their goal drought.

Stars will rely on Diyo Sibisi, Matome Madimade and Collins Chabalala.
