The University of Free State is likely to be the focus of an intense transformation drive after a racial incident in which white students were shown on a video forcing black cleaning staff to eat food they had urinated on.

Education Minister Naledi Pandor has instructed department head Duncan Hindle to immediately lead a departmental delegation to UFS to meet its leadership to determine what is needed to fight racism at the campus.

Pandor is also planning to meet university management to discuss transformation at the Bloemfontein-based institution soon.

Pandor called on the university management to leave no stone unturned in making sure that disciplinary action was taken against all those students who were involved in the incident.
