Two pupils from Pham- bili Senior Secondary in Lusikisiki were arrested following vandalism during a school fee protest at the school, Eastern Cape police said yesterday.

Two pupils from Pham- bili Senior Secondary in Lusikisiki were arrested following vandalism during a school fee protest at the school, Eastern Cape police said yesterday.

Spokesman Captain Mduduzi Godlwana said: "It appears the protest was about school fees that the pupils had paid earlier in the year and are now demanding back.

"They vandalised the school, classroom windows were broken and we ordered all the pupils to leave the school premises."

The two who were arrested are on the school's governing body, made up of parents, teachers and pupils.

The school is a no-fee paying school but pupils were asked to pay fees while waiting for government money. - Sapa
