South African golfer Laurette Maritz hopes to win the Acer Women's SA Open at the Durban Country Club from February 28 until March 2.

Maritz, who is not new to this course, says she will be up against experienced international golfers.

Golfers from Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, England, Scotland, Germany, Korea and China will take part in this event.

She admitted that the three-day event would not be a walk in the park, as most of the players will be fighting to make their mark in this event.

"My chances are good and the golf course has a nice layout, but we'll be playing against top-class golfers from all over the world," Maritz said. "It will depend on my form on the day and I want to be at my best."

She says she has worked hard on her game and could pull a surprise win. "But it needs a lot of concentration and focus."

Apart from Maritz, Betty Tsebo Mokoena, who is playing for the first time as a professional, will also be taking part.

She made her debut in the WPGA Masters at Parkview, where she made the cut, and she is confident that she will perform much better this time.

"I was not in my elements and I was jittery at Parkview. Now that nervousness is gone and I'm going to play my game," Mokoena says.
