Lesotho's title race hots up

Reigning champions and log-leaders Lesotho Correctional Services played to a goalless draw with Majantja in the Buddie Premier League at the weekend.

Masheshena, as they are also known, have accumulated 37 points from 16 games.

They will host South Africa's Platinum Stars in an MTN Africa Champions League second-leg tie in Maseru this weekend. Stars hammered the Lesotho outfit 4-0 in the first leg.

Matlama, who are second in the Buddie Premier League, lost 2-1 to struggling Likhopo.

Lesotho Mountain Police Services are fifth after a goalless draw with Joy.

Swallows and bottom club Mphatlalatsane also shared the spoils after a 1-all draw.

Lesotho Defence Force registered the biggest win of the weekend when they trounced Qalo 6-1.

Naughty Boys won 2-0 against Arsenal. Linare pipped Lioli 1-0.

l Botswana soccer giants Mochudi Centre Chiefs firmly refuse to relinquish their lead in the Mascom Premier League.

This is despite dropping two valuable points in a 1-1 draw with struggling Extension Gunners at the weekend.

Chiefs are the only remaining unbeaten side in the league. Gunners are second from the bottom of the table with 12 points from 17 games.

Santso also managed to hold on to second spot, despite losing 4-2 to Nico United, who are fourth from the bottom. Tasc pipped Mogoditshane Fighters 2-1.

In other games, Gaborone United grabbed maximum points when they defeated Botswana Meat Commission 1-0.

Reigning champions Ecco City Greens suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Notwane, while Boteti Young Fighters and tail-enders Jwaneng Comets played to a 3-3 draw.
