A skeleton was discovered near a nursery site in northern Zululand on Saturday.

The female skeleton was discovered by construction workers in Dukuduku, Mtubatuba, after they saw dogs carrying bones out of a bushy area.

Police spokesman Jabulani Mdletshe said a few days before the discovery, workers had apparently complained of a horrible smell in the area.

"Construction workers are building a nursery in the area," Mdletshe said. They had complained of a bad smell near where they were working. On Saturday they noticed dogs running out of a bushy area with big bones. They decided to investigate and that's when they made this shocking discovery.

"They were able to identify her sexuality because of the brown sandals she had been wearing."

He said the woman could be between 20 and 25 years old. She looked as though she had been dead for at least a month. Also found near the remains were a yellow tracksuit and a pink T-shirt.

Mdletshe urged members of the public with missing relatives to contact Sergeant Thulebona Mkhwanazi on 035- 550-0035 or 078-366-9066.

Meanwhile, Mbonambi police are looking for relatives of an unknown girl who was found dead near the Nseleni RBM Road on Thursday.

She had gunshot wounds to the neck and both ears.

Anyone with information can contact Captain Jabulani Ndaba on 035-5801222 or 082-411-6692.
