My mom has a terrible temper and can be violent. My dad is always threatening to leave.

He says that the only reason he stays is because she will probably kill us if he leaves.

I can manage, but my little sister is frightened all the time.

I don't know how much longer we can carry on living like this before something really bad happens. Please help us.

This is a very frightening situation that you find yourselves in. Your parents are meant to protect you and put your wellbeing above all else. Even though your dad is managing to stop any violence that may be directed towards you and your sister, it is not solving the problem. Have you tried speaking to your father about how this is affecting the two of you? Are there any relatives that you could move in with until your parents have sorted out their problems?
