While they should be feeling the pressure of being at the top of the Absa Premiership table, Ajax Cape Town are in fact enjoying the status of pacesetters.

They are prepared to die on the pitch to protect their status and appear to have the ability to wear the crown this season - or is it still early to tip them for the title?

But with the way they have been playing this season, some pundits could be forgiven for tipping them to win the championship.

The impressive Urban Warriors' quest for the crown continues tonight when they host the inconsistent Thanda Royal Zulu at Athlone Stadium at 7.30.

Ajax have young players with big hearts and the team is also balanced with seasoned local and foreign players.

Zimbabwean striker Russell Mwafulirwa, Congolese defender Dikulu Bageta and Botswana forward Dipsy Selolwane have featured many times for their senior national teams and their experience is crucial in Ajax's title hopes.

Brett Evans has been with the team for more than seven years and has proved to be the side's pivotal cog at the back.

Bryce Moon is a young, exciting player who has contributed towards the side's success.

"The players are not under any pressure and they are proud to be the leaders.

"But they are determined to protect their position on the log at all costs," Thabiso "Shooz" Mekuto, Ajax's publicist, said yesterday

Patrick Mayo and company have to concentrate throughout the match at the back because any lapse could see Ajax win.
