My interest is more in the revelations by the acting head of the National Prosecuting Authority, Mokotedi Mpshe, that President Thabo Mbeki knew about the allegations of corruption against Selebi since 2006.
The question now is, what else does Mbeki know about others who are assumed or known to be his allies? I think it is about time Mbeki relinquished his position and let Jacob Zuma, as president of the ANC, take the reins until the next general election in 2009.
By the way, Zuma used to be the deputy president and there would be nothing wrong with his taking over the leadership of the country. Besides, he was democratically elected by the masses of the movement in Polokwane last December.
Of course, if the revelations of Mpshe are anything to go by, Vusi Pikoli should be reinstated with immediate effect and the Ginwala Commission be dissolved because it does not make any sense any more.
Justice Minister Brigitte Mabandla must be suspended, or fired, for failing to perform her duties and not taking the Selebi matter seriously when she was informed about the allegations of corruption against the top cop.
