I was impressed by the points made by Ted Dumitru in the four-part article (which appeared in Sports Voltage) about talent development.
What made it very interesting is the Afcon was living proof of issues raised in the article. Youth talent development makes a huge difference in the performance of African national teams. Teams like Ghana, Ivory Coast, Egypt and Tunisia are miles ahead of the others because they are taking the development of young talent very seriously.
I am particularly impressed by the skill of Ivorian players. Since almost all of them are from Asec Mimosa's academy it shows how crucial it is to have quality youth academies. Our people must stop blaming the players and national coaches. The real problem is with Safa. The soccer bosses are too ignorant to understand how our amazing talent should be developed.
