Archbishop John Vusumuzi Mabuza lived for The Twelve Stone Apostolic Church in Zion.
Mabuza, of Tshiawelo, Soweto, died on February 3 after a short illness. He was 50.
He was the son of Archbishop Matthew Mabuza, the founder of the church. Being born into a pastor's house meant Mabuza was involved in church work from an early age.
It was not surprising when he decided to follow his father into the ministry.
He was ordained as a priest in 1998 after completing his diploma in theology at the Zion Evangelical Bible School.
It came as no surprise when he was ordained as archbishop of The Twelve Stone Apostolic Church in Zion in 2002.
When he took over, the church had 29 branches spread across the country. These had grown to 43 at the time of Mabuza's death.
"He was a born leader from the time of his youth," said his brother Siphiwe.
Mabuza is survived by his wife Hilda and four children - Xolani, Nonhlanhla, Nomaswazi and Siphelele.
"He was a loving father and cared for other people," said Xolani.
Mabuza will be buried tomorrow at Lenasia Cemetery after a service at Protea South Hall next to Protea Gardens Mall.
The service starts at 8am.
