Elephants fired up for revenge

ACCRA - Tournament favourites Ivory Coast are fired up for revenge against reigning champions Egypt in their semifinal match at the 26th MTN Africa Cup of Nations at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Ghana, tonight.

The Elephants, led by their inspirational England-based captain Didier Drogba, have made it clear that are in Ghana on a mission to win the three-week-long tournament without dropping a point.

But the Pharaohs - who only dropped two points when they played to a 1-all draw against Zambia in the group stages - are equally confident of not only going through to the final but of winning the title a record sixth time.

Tonight's clash, which is scheduled to start at 10.30pm SA time, is a repeat of the 2006 final in Cairo where tournament hosts Egypt beat the Ivory Coast on penalties.

Chelsea want-away Drogba said they have studied the Egyptians and will emerge victorious this time round.

The Ivorians reached the last four with a bang after hammering Guinea 5-0 in Sekondi on Sunday night, while Egypt were given a fright by Angola before winning their quarterfinal 2-1 in Tamale on Monday night.

Star Egyptian player Mohamed Hosny said: "It will be a difficult game because we are playing against some of the best players in the world. But there is no two ways about it, the Ivorians won't go past the semifinals."
