Barbaric deed

The alleged torture of two workers by a farmer who chained them to the roof of a storeroom in Limpopo is inhumane and barbaric.

The alleged torture of two workers by a farmer who chained them to the roof of a storeroom in Limpopo is inhumane and barbaric.

It is such acts that polarise farm communities, creating a vicious cycle of racial disharmony out of kilter with the nation building values of our Constitution.

The farmer allegedly resorted to this vicious treatment after accusingthe man and woman at his farm in the Thabazimbi area of theft.

The farmer's ruthless action should be condemned in the strongest terms. If he accused the two employees of theft he should have laid criminal charges against them and then allowed the law to take its course.

Farmworkers countrywide are being subjected to such inhuman treatment by some cruel employers almost daily.

This must stop.
