After severe pressure from a determined mother, a Durban school yesterday made an about-turn and accepted into its fold Grade Eight pupil Tebogo Mofokeng.
On Monday the mother, Ntombifuthi Mofokeng, told Sowetan that officials at the New Forest High School had led her to believe that they would enrol her child but allegedly "dumped" her after finding out that she was unemployed.
Sowetan telephoned the school and was told that the principal was in a meeting.
The school was informed that Sowetan was going to publish the story.
Yesterday morning an elated Mofokeng said that the school would accept Tebogo and help her pay the school fees.
"I agreed to help at the school during special functions to make up for the fact that I cannot pay the school fees," said Mofokeng.
